COMMON QUESTIONS:

WHAT IS IMMIGRATION PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION?

A psychological evaluation for immigration court is used to document any mental health conditions or diagnosis. It describes from a psycho-social perspective how potential deportation can impact a client and their family.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

  • Send us a message or call/text 201-523-4048 so that we can answer any questions you may have and to set up an appointment.

  • We will send you an intake packet via e-mail or mail with consent forms and a questionnaire to fill out.

  • You will send your consent and questionnaire back to the clinician before your first appointment as we like to review all information prior to the initial session.

  • Depending on how quickly you need the evaluation, we like to break sessions up into 2-4 appointments to ensure we get all the information needed. (If you are unable to meet more than once, we will do our best to work with you in the time frame you have available).

  • Once all information is gathered, the clinician will begin working on the report. This can take about 2 weeks.

  • A report will then be mailed to your attorney.

WHERE DOES THE EVALUATION TAKE PLACE?:

  • At our office in Hawthorne, NJ.

  • Online using Telehealth, a HIPPAA compliant platform.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE EVALUATION?

  • You will meet with a clinician and will talk about your history (where you come from, how and why you came to this country, and what your life is like now) as well as the state of your mental and emotional health as it relates to your immigration petition.

  • The evaluation can last about 4 hours which can be broken into several appointments, (about 2-4 ).

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

  • A valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)

  • If possible, bring a copy of your legal declaration

  • Have some basic dates and information on hand, such as the year you immigrated to the US and any other significant dates related to the reason for your immigration petition. If you have a copy of a police report, it can be helpful as well.

  • An interpreter (if needed)

WHAT IS THE COST?

The cost is $1,200 which includes the evaluation (which can take 2-4 hours), and the written report (usually 10-20 pages in length and can take between 5-10 hours to complete). A $600.00 non-refundable deposit must be made when scheduling the evaluation. â€‹Payment plans for the remainder of the amount due are available.

If your report must be completed in less than 2 weeks, there is an additional fee of $250.00

If your evaluation needs updates once the final copy has been sent to your attorney, the fee will be determined based on how many updates are needed.
