Erika Hernandez, LCSW
Hi, I'm Erika Hernandez and I'm here to Help
I understand that difficult situations and traumatic events can cause one to struggle with many different emotions and can leave us feeling very alone. That's why I am here to help. With years of experience working with adults, couples, adolescents, and children who have experienced trauma, I understand the importance of the therapeutic relationship and the process of finding the treatment modality that works best for you.
A Little About Me...
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and speak both English and Spanish. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Kean University and hold a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University. For over 10 years I worked with women, men, and teens facing unplanned pregnancies and related concerns. There I worked with many who experienced trauma due to history of abuse, domestic violence, and pregnancy loss. I also have extensive experience working with children ages 4-18 in a school based setting and providing short and long-term in-home counseling services to children with behavioral and relational issues as well as providing support to their parents and families while navigate the challenges that arise. I have provided field supervision for Bachelors and Masters level interns completing their field placements from Rutgers University, Nyack College, Ramapo College, and Montclair State University. I am trained in school presence to help children and adolescents struggling to attend school due to severe anxiety and depression. I am also a Certified Care Plus NJ Inc. Trauma Focused CBT clinician and have certifications in Mental Health First Aid USA and in aging to help meet the challenges and maximize the strengths of the older adult population.
